Colouring Look!
So today I want to talk about colour. We're immersed in it ,we live it ,the world would be nought without it and yet some of us DREAD to wear it!
Irish women in particular are guilty of this! Why? In my humble opinion a number of factors contribute to this black spot fear of any hue other than dark. The first of these I think is Climate. We do after all, live in one of the wettest and sun deprived countries in the world, therefore its super easy to "don" the rain wear and grey gear to match the raging skies!
The idea that dark clothing "slims" the body down is also one of the best reasons for abandoning the glorious rainbow shades! However , forfeiting the uplifting effect that a cobalt blue or a cheery cerise may have on ones sense of "well being" is a huge price to pay for a temporary silhouette!
For those colour novices out there ,there is a compromise. Its undeniable that Black is a very flattering shade but there's something depressing about it in July and September and December and..........OK! I LOVE COLOUR! All through the year, it makes me smile, wearing it, seeing it, living it! Most importantly never fearing it!
Combining colour with black is one of the best and flattering ways to introduce it into any wardrobe. A bright winter coat/jacket paired with dark trousers/skirts is one of the easiest ways to wear it successfully or vice a versa, and still look slim.
Accessories dripped in sensual shades are also a great way of colouring up if nervous of investing in more expensive options.
I'll be wearing a selection of colourful vintage gems this winter and I'm posting up some photos of these. I hope they inspire you to take some "Colouring Action" Ha ha!!!
The High Street is drenched with colour this winter so I'm into town tomorrow , armed with my camera to take photographic evidence of all the coloured goodies on offer! So lots of photos!
Hope you enjoyed this post and don't forget to "Colour Up" this winter! (Even if its just a little bit!)
