THE BIG CHILL!
Brrrrrrrrrr but its cold outside.......yes folks we're definitely immersed in the cold and darkness of the early winter months so lets embrace it with as much colour and soft texture that we can. The body is a curious thing , it can feel truly miserable in the wrong clothing and blissful in the right ones.
So, dressing for the seasons is one thing but enveloping the body , particularly at this time of year when it's at its most vulnerable in cosy fabrics full of warmth and snuginess is crucial.
However, doing this can be sometimes tricky unless you don't mind looking like a badly wrapped up Christmas package.........not a good look! Hmmmm........
Violinkit has realised that combining simplicity with sumptuous materials works excellently. What I mean by this is , combining luxurious winter fabrics like faux fur, chunky knitwear (mohair for example) or heavier embellished wools with a simple palette underneath like for example black/brown/grey/navy/berry red etc works a treat.
Keeping the silhouette as smooth and streamlined as possible is a must. Combinations like a fur jacket (which can look bulky even on the slimmest body) with skinny jeans or slimline trousers or tight mini/leggings and a simply cut top or fine sweater underneath works really well. A classic I know but a winner every time.
In my opinion everyone should have a winter faux fur in their wardrobe. Anyone can rock it. The only rule........YOU MUST WANT TO!
There is nothing like the feeling of soft fur tantalising your neck on a freezing cold morning. Nothing more comforting to feeling super snug and yet oh so good!
Needless to say VIOLINKIT has several warm and stylish fur coats in her wardrobe. Mostly vintage (which tend to be better made and have a better quality faux fur) however not being able to resist the lure of the high street I have succumbed to the temptation of the brightly coloured and fashionable hues available there over the A/W15 and 16.
This is where the high street comes out on tops over vintage. It is very rare to find a coloured faux fur coat from the 50's or 60's almost impossible. In fact I have never seen one....yet.....
However , so many high street brands carry coloured faux fur jackets that your spoiled for choice. Shops like Bershka and Primark/Penneys are excellent at this and at very good prices. I purchased a fab winter green one in Bershka last year in the sale for thirty euro and everyone loves it. Colour makes people SMILE ........FACT! . Colour combined with a sumptuous fabric like fur is a double whammy.
I also managed to find in my local Vincent's shop in Bray Co Wicklow a fab-u-lous creamy beige mink like faux fur Jacket with the widest sleeves and luxurious satin lining. I've included photos in this post.
So folks, beat the winter woes and wrap yourself in a snuggily soft faux fur Jacket and look like a sleek well wrapped Christmas Pressie! Horray!
Lots of love and good wishes . STAY WARM! LOVE VIOLINKIT XXX
