It started with a kiss!
I've never really liked New Years Eve. Memories of wild parties and random pairings amidst soggy paper party poppers and crinkled hats , I often found myself in the middle of the room ,music roaring and wondering at the lunacy of it all.
Lots of these people would never see each other again and for most it was simply a compulsion or a need to ..............
The history of the New Years Eve kiss dates back to the Romans, where they would ring in the New Year with a huge festive feast and then debauch each other. Thankfully (depending on your preference ha ha!) the tradition has mellowed over the centuries. According to German and British folklore the first person you encountered at the start of the Stroke of midnight determined whether you would have a year of good luck or not.
Over time people began to take a more proactive approach to kissing someone they knew and fancied at the first moment of the New Year.
Whether or not you get to kiss the person of your choice this year Violinkit says its no Biggie. So what! Its a lot of smoke and mirrors and no one even remembers the day after anyway.
As for new years resolutions, throw them out the window if they don't include practising the art of being happy. I know no easy feat, but achievable with the right mindset.
With that sentiment in mind I heartily wish all my friends a very Happy 2016.
Lots of love and best wishes Violinkit.
Here's a few cosy New Year day time looks to get wrapped up in . Enjoy!
2016..............bring it on!!! Happy New Year. X
